The Embrace of the Wind

The Embrace of the Wind

The wind of a Monday night in a Utah winter, right around when it’s starting to snow is an embrace. This was an embrace much needed for a girl living through the harshness of society, the truth of the loneliness of life, and the tediousness of school and scholarship essays. The breeze slaps my face in a kind way, in a loving manner. It’s a slap of awakening. This is a slap needed when you are so busy to look up at the sun and realize there are other planets, galaxies, perhaps lives. This is the slap that relieves all your stress, your dullness, your achy back, your headache, and your heart-brokenness. It is a giant’s slap – and since this giant has big hands, this slap turns into a big hug, a sweet embrace. I talk of an embrace not of lust but one that awakens your heart, and soul, and mind to the truth. This is the embrace of a father who shows his love with a breeze, a little too cold. It is just cold enough to awaken your senses, for an aesthetic experience of the universe – and love. This is the embrace of the wind. One that reminds you, you are much loved.
